PM Modi declared the terrorists behind the Pahalgam attack and those who orchestrated it would “get a punishment they cannot imagine”.
India will find, follow and punish each terrorist and their sponsors and our morale will never be shattered, PM Modi said on Tuesday, giving a clear message two days after 25 tourists and one Kashmiri were brutally murdered in a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
PM Modi was in Madhubani, Bihar, for a government function. He began his speech with a silent homage to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. In the latter part of his speech, he stated that the whole nation is hurting due to the brutal way in which terrorists slaughtered innocent tourists in Pahalgam. “The entire nation is with the grief-stricken families. The government is attempting to the best of its capabilities to ensure the safety of those who were injured. Someone lost a son, someone lost a brother, someone lost a life partner. Someone has said Bengali, someone has said Kannada, someone was Marathi, someone was Odia, someone was Gujarati and someone was Bihar’s son.”.
“From Kargil to Kanyakumari, there is sorrow and anger. This attack was not only on innocent tourists; the enemies of the country have had the temerity to attack India’s soul,” the PM Modi stated.
PM Modi stated that the terrorists who perpetrated the attack and those who had hatched the plan would “get a punishment they cannot even imagine”. “The time has come to demolish whatever is left of the terror nest. The will of 140 crores will shatter the backbone of the masters of terror,” he stated, his message targeted at Pakistan, which is said to have supported acts of terror on Indian territory.
Switching to English, apparently to send a message to the world, the Prime Minister announced, “I say to the entire world. India will find out, chase and punish all terrorists and their supporters. We will hunt them to the ends of the world. India’s spirit will never be broken down by terrorism. Terrorism will never go unpunished. All efforts will be made to ensure that justice is delivered. The whole nation stands firm on this commitment. Everyone who holds faith in humanity is with us. I thank people of other countries and their leaders who have been with us during this period,” he said.

The Prime Minister, who was on a visit to Saudi Arabia, curtailed his trip and came back after the Tuesday afternoon attack. In his initial reaction to the ghastly attack, the worst in Kashmir in recent history, the Prime Minister had announced that the people responsible for it won’t be spared.
He presided over a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security yesterday evening, when the Centre resolved to lash out at Pakistan diplomatically. New Delhi announced it was suspending the Indus Water Treaty and the Integrated Check Post at Attari has been closed. India stated Pakistani citizens would not be allowed to travel to India on SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme visas and declared defence advisers in the Pakistani High Commission Persona Non Grata. The total number of High Commissions will also be reduced to 30 from 55 by May 1.
Earlier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh indicated that India adopts a zero-tolerance approach to terrorism. “We will not only strike at the culprits of this act but the behind-the-scene players also. The accused will also shortly witness a big and clear answer, I want to assure the nation,” he said.
In the aftermath of the recent Pahalgam attack, PM Modi has issued a stern warning to Pakistan, stating that “the time has come to raze” the terrorist infrastructure operating from across the border. Addressing the nation, he emphasized that India will no longer tolerate cross-border terrorism and that the perpetrators will face decisive retaliation. PM Modi’s remarks underscore India’s commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty and sending a clear message to those who support and harbor terror groups. This statement marks a significant escalation in India’s stance against Pakistan-based militant activities, signaling a potential shift towards more aggressive countermeasures.
