SRH vs LSG
IPL 2025, SRH vs LSG: SunRisers Hyderabad are set to create IPL history as the first team to reach 300 runs in an innings, after their scintillating opening to the 2025 season. With a power-packed batting unit and struggling Lucknow Super Giants bowling line-up, everyone is waiting with bated breath for Thursday’s encounter in Hyderabad.
SRH vs LSG: I take it that SunRisers Hyderabad will reach 300 points in the Indian Premier League? Given how they began the IPL 2025 season—scoring 286 against the Rajasthan Royals in Hyderabad on Sunday, March 23—it seems inevitable. Will they score more than 300 runs in their second game against the Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday at the same location?
Only three sides in the history of Twenty20 cricket have surpassed the 300-run score – Baroda (349 for 5) against Sikkim in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match at Indore in 2024, Zimbabwe (344 for 4) v Gambia at Nairobi in 2024, and Nepal (314 for 3) against Mongolia at Hangzhou in September 2023. Team India were close to doing it when they posted 297 for 4 against Bangladesh at Hyderabad last year.
In the IPL, SunRisers Hyderabad have scored four of the top five totals in the tournament’s history. Three of them were last year – 286, 277, 266 – when they started pushing the boundaries of big-hitting under Pat Cummins and Daniel Vettori. They have picked up from where they had left this season.

- SRH – 287 for 3 vs RCB in 2024
- SRH – 286 for 6 vs RR in 2025

Against Rajasthan in the opener of IPL 2025 at Hyderabad, normal suspects Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head mounted an attack in the powerplay. Though Abhishek did not score a big time, Head punished Rajasthan with 67 out of a mere 31 deliveries.
This season, their batting line-up possesses even greater firepower. With the inclusion of Mumbai Indians’ Ishan Kishan, their top-three is the deadliest in the IPL. Ishan didn’t waste any time asserting himself, hitting 106 off only 47 balls as SRH scored 286 – one run short of their previous best score of 287 against RCB in Bengaluru last season.
No side in T20 history has posted higher 250-plus scores than SunRisers Hyderabad.
And that 300 in the IPL 2025 is not far off, if preliminary indications are any indication. Many believe that the milestone will be reached on Thursday against the Lucknow Super Giants.
SRH vs LSG: Due to injuries to their Indian pace battery, Lucknow has been severely limited. In their first match against the Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam, they used rookie Prince Yadav and late replacement Shardul Thakur as pacers in place of Mayank Yadav, Avesh Khan, and Mohsin Khan.
Ravi Bishnoi is the sole spinner with international experience in their ranks. M Siddharth, a skilled left-arm spinner, bowled impressively against Delhi Capitals, and they also played a debut mystery spinner Digvesh Rathi in the match. Shahbaz Ahmed was also utilized as the sixth-bowling option.
Delhi were struggling at 8 for 3 and then 65 for 5, but they went on to chase 210 against Lucknow with a show-stopping knock (66 off 31) by Ashutosh Sharma.
SRH vs LSG: LSG’s weakened bowling unit gives nothing to cheer about, and SunRisers would be salivating at the thought of dismantling them on Thursday.
Much will rely upon how courageously Rishabh Pant plays with his bowling choices. He committed quite a number of tactical mistakes that helped Delhi battle back into the game once they were lost in the pursuit.
Pant cannot indulge in such errors against the RunRisers in Hyderabad, which has turned into a bowler’s graveyard. There were 200-plus scores last season as many as seven times at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in the city.

Even in their first game this season, Rajasthan responded to SRH’s 286 with 245.
On the evening of SRH vs LSG match, while speaking, former SRH skipper Kane Williamson expressed hope that his former team will achieve 300 runs in a match during the 2025 season.
“You just know for a fact that they are going to give themselves every chance. SRH in Hyderabad. It’s one of the toughest places to travel to at the moment. The clarity in how they are going about it is excellent, they are power-packed all the way through,” Williamson said to JioHotstar.
SRH vs LSG: Lucknow Super Giants also possess a strong batting lineup. Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh tore the Delhi Capitals bowling lineup to shreds in their first game of the 2025 season. In spite of Aiden Markram and Rishabh Pant not getting out, LSG scored 209 off their 20 overs.
Veteran India opener Aakash Chopra also opined that Lucknow should bat first if they win the toss to silence all the talk about SunRisers achieving 300. He added that a substantial total on the board can pressure SunRisers.
“It can be possible. I am confident it will be possible this season. I am confident that they can even make 100 in the powerplay at least two times this season. Will it be possible in this game? I don’t know,” he added.
“Lucknow, yes, have a poor bowling line-up.”.
SRH vs LSG: “Against them, you bat. Leave the story there. You go and bat first and let them chase. You don’t know what can happen in a chase. Don’t put your head down thinking you have to get 250. Just play as per the nature of the pitch, score runs on the board and let’s see what happens,” he further said.
It will be raining sixes in Hyderabad on Thursday. Rishabh Pant and Lucknow would not like to be on the receiving end. A drubbing could do the reconstituted unit a lot of damage at the beginning of the season.
